Autumn Bear Cub: Photo Art of the Week

Autumn Bear Cub Photo by Matthew Timmins Photography - HD Metal Print

Why, Hello There!

This Photo Art of the Week belongs to Matthew Timmins. You’re looking at a 20”x30” HD Metal Print.

Matthew tells us, “The bear was shot in Revelstoke, BC in late October. I thought all the bears had gone into hibernation for the season until I came across this young black bear, and its sibling (not pictured), eating in this colourful mountain ash. I waited, and eventually it popped its head up and curiously looked at me before getting back to feeding.” You can see more of Matthew’s photos by visiting his website, and you can also find him on Facebook and Instagram.

Autumn Vibes

Woman with Camera Capturing Autumn Photos

We are absolutely in love with Matthew's photo! The contrast of the bear’s black fur against the vibrant colours of the autumn leaves; the texture of its wet fur; the use of natural light; the way the bear is framed by the foliage … everything about this image is stunning. If you’re new to photography and are interested in capturing your own autumn photos or wildlife images, we have several blog posts that can help get you started. Here are a few to get you on your way:

Autumn Photography Tips: Capturing the Season of Changing Colours

“Winter, spring, summer, and fall: each season provides us with unique photo opportunities and challenges. Here are some autumn photography tips to help you capture the most from the season of changing colours.”

7 Photography Tips Every Beginner Should Know

Whether you’ve just found a new passion for photography and want to advance your knowledge and skill or you’re looking for a few quick tips or ideas for an upcoming event or occasion, we have several helpful articles written with the beginner photographer in mind.”

Compositional Framing: Tips on Using Frames Within a Photo

Applying this technique to your photography helps draw the eye to the main focal point. There are unlimited ways to incorporate frames within a photo, here are a few ideas.”

When Good Animals Go Bad: The Do’s and Don’ts of Animal Photography

“Taking photos of animals can be tricky. Let’s take a look at several photos of animals and discuss what makes them good and where they could be improved upon so you can learn how to take the best animal photos possible.”

Including Texture in Your Photography

“In the attempt to capture a great photo, a person will often consider things like lighting or various composition techniques – the rule of thirds, for example. There is, however, one element that is often neglected in photography: texture. Adding texture in your photos can greatly enhance the visual impact. Since images are two-dimensional, including texture in your photography can add a sense of dimension to an otherwise flat photo.”

Capturing the Most Adorable Baby Animal Photos

And who doesn’t love looking at photos of baby animals? In order to capture the best images possible, there are some tricks, tips, and techniques you can – or in some cases should – follow.”

Tips for Avoiding Poor-Quality Prints

“You don’t need to have a professional DSLR camera to capture photos that turn into amazing prints—your smartphone camera will work!—but there are a few tips you should consider in order to avoid poor-quality prints.”

About the Print

Stunning Photo of a Bear Cub in Autumn Leaves Printed on Metal

Matthew made the excellent choice to print his bear cub photo on an HD Metal Print. These prints are glossy, vibrant, and really make a bold statement on your wall. They’re also lightweight, fade-resistant, and extremely durable. With a fade-resistance rating of 100+ years, our HD Metal Prints are created using a process called dye-sublimation. This means your photo is reverse-printed using unique transfer papers and dyes. It’s then placed over the Chromaluxe metal panel which has a special coating on it. Using a heat press at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, the sublimation dyes are converted to a gas and transferred to the metal at a molecular level. Since the dyes have been infused into the metal, your HD Metal Print will not fade, peel, or crack under normal conditions.
